teeth whitening

Tooth whitening includes all methods to lighten teeth. It generally consists of applying to the teeth a bleaching product called carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide.

It can be done in different ways:

Teeth whitening at home

There are toothpastes that can help keep teeth white and especially to maintain good oral hygiene by avoiding deposits sometimes dyes on teeth.
However, their effectiveness is limited.

Another method proposed consists in a kit available in pharmacies and which is in the form of coated adhesive tape of bleach, or in the form of disposable gutter in which is integrated a gel.
Sold without prescription, these kits have a slightly higher efficiency to toothpaste.

Specialized centers, "smile Bars"

The concept centers commonly called "smile bars" has developed recently in France.
They propose to wear during twenty minutes filled gutter whitening product activated by light. This method is effective for some people but the dosage of the product used is because of French law, as strong as the one used in a dental surgeon.

Teeth whitening at the dentist

The dentist also provides methods to lighten teeth:
- The first is made directly to the dental office where the dentist builds a disposable tray adapted to the shape of the teeth and in which it applies the whitening gel. The session will be renewed once or twice in order to get good results.

Bleaching in a dental office in dental office

- The second method is to provide a prescription for much more active than the product sold without prescription kits. The product should be applied several times daily for a period of about two weeks. The price of a teeth whitening firm is higher but this method is the most effective.

White teeth, the key to the perfect smile?

While in many cases it works, the results are mixed.
Indeed, some dentitions respond better than others and the effect obtained also depends on the more or less white color of natural teeth.

Tooth whitening therefore improves the quality of smiling while keeping its natural teeth, however, it does not achieve ultra white and aligned teeth. Contrary to popular belief, the stars at the most perfect smile often use dental veneers and not a simple clarification of teeth.
It should also be noted that a whitening treatment is done on natural teeth and not on artificial dental crowns.
